Also of particular importance with regards to subscriptions; the 21st Medway Scout Group is registered with H M Revenue & Customs (Charities) to allow us to claim back the tax deducted on money we receive in respect of subscriptions from parents who are UK taxpayers.

The Gift Aid Scheme enables us to claim an extra 28p from H M Revenue & Customs (Charities) for each £1.00 subscriptions we receive. For a Cub Scout paying £17.50 per half term, we would be able to claim an extra £29.40 a year simply by their tax paying parent completing and returning a Gift Aid Declaration. This additional income will go a long way in keeping subscriptions down, subsidising activities, covering the costs of hall and garage rent, materials and equipment, and paying for adult leader training.
