Kent Scouts: Adult Pioneering Skills Day

Date: Saturday 17th March 2007

Activity Description:

This is an an event run by Kent Scouts for any Leaders wishsing to instruct pioneering. Army Royal Engineers and Scout Pioneer Instructors will provide a package of instruction and practical sessions to enable adults to teach Scouts. The culmination of the day will be the building of an ariel runway in addition to several other projects.

There will be several different bases with demonstrations allowing you to choose what you want to see and do:

  • Knots and lashings
  • Indoor pioneering
  • Wet weather programmes
  • Whipping and splicing
  • Rope coiling
  • Rope making
  • Blocks and tackle
  • Anchors
  • Risk assesments for pioneering
  • Working at height safety legislation
  • Monkey fists
  • Winches

All adults taking part will receive a certificate which can count towards ongoing learning.

Any 21st Medway Leaders wishing to take part in this day should ask Sverre for an entry form and cheque.
