Games Equipment: A 4-5 metre length of rope with a Wellington boot tied to one end

As an alternative to the welly you may tie a monkey’s fist in the end of the rope or use some other non-breakable object to weight the end of the rope.

Scouts form a circle around the Leader in the middle. When everybody is ready the Leader starts to swing the rope around the circle. Scouts must jump over the rope without touching it. The Leader should start with a few practice swings, but when the game starts for real Scouts are out if they touch the rope.

The Leader in the middle should vary the direction, speed and height at which they swing the rope around the circle.
