Games Equipment: 8 skittles, 2 foam footballs (plus some spares), a piece of chalk
Draw a line to divide the hall into two halves, or maybe thirds or quarters for more Patrols. Each Patrol sets up three or four skittles somewhere in their area (we normally say at least 2 metres from a wall or any other obstacle).
When everybody is ready the Leader throws the balls into play. The object of the game is to knock down the skittles of the other Patrol(s) whilst defending your own. The winners are the last Patrol with one or more skittles still standing. You can repeat the game as many times as time allows.
If Scouts standing too close when defending skittles prevents the game from moving forward, occasionally we have drawn ‘no go’ areas around the skittles to prevent Scouts standing on top of them, or have stated that Scouts hit below the knee must stand out until the next game. We also quite often end up with three or four balls flying around just to make sure everybody is kept busy.
