Scouts Bring Home the Arrowhead Trophy

January’s Disctrict Scout competition ‘Arrowhead’ at Buckmore Park Scout Campsite has to one of the Group’s highlights of the year so far as the 21st Medway Scout Troop combined with members of the 26th Medway Scout Troop won this years challenge by a single point.

It was a fantastic achievement for both Group as they battled through the mud to navigate the park completing a number of mental and physical team challenges. They arose victorious over 13 other teams, earning points for their ability to complete the tasks their teamwork and their navigation skills on way the round.

It’s the first time our Group has won this competition, and despite sharing it with the 26th we still think our Scouts made a massive contribution to the teams success last night. So well done to Jack and Jason who brought home our first ‘Arrowhead’ trophy.

21st Medway Brave The Cold at Winter Camp 14

This year the 3 Scouts, 5 Explorers and a handful of Leaders decided to brave the cold with over 3000 other Scouters at Gilwell Park’s annual Winter Camp. The wet weather over Christmas had turned the whole site into a mud bath but it seemed to add to the atmosphere of the event. The Scouts and Explorers were able to take part in new activities such as White Water Rafting, High Ropes and Quad Biking.

Despite the wet and the cold everyone had a great time and we’ll be returning next year with hopefully more Scouts and Explorers. You can see some of our photos from the event on our Facebook Page.

Theme Park Camp Wasn’t Quite A Wash Out

At the end of September Cubs, Scouts and Explorers embarked on a camp in wet and windy conditions for the sole purpose of spending the Saturday at Chessington World of Adventures and having a great time. We had an excellent time despite having small numbers, and a great sing song round the fire after our day in the park. We hope to see more of our young people attend the next one.
